Latin language?

I’m interested in learning Latin. How do I go about it? How long does it take to learn Latin? Is it difficult? Is it a good language to learn?

Personally, I would recommend the book, "Wheelock’s Latin." They have a companion site that has audio files to help with pronunciation for the alphabet and vocabulary.

Latin takes years to learn, but like all things, it varies person-to-person. It’s a dead language, which means it’s stagnant; once you know it, you know it.

It can be difficult. Being a native English/Romance speaker, helps quite a bit. It’s a good language to learn if you’re interested in linguistics or anthropology, or if you want to use it as a step for learning other languages. But once again, it’s mostly a dead language so you won’t get much conversational use out of it.
